Conference Wide Sawada, Brenda [1], Singh, Santokh [2]. Growing Sustainability through Undergraduate and Graduate Research-UBC Social, Ecological, Economic Development Studies (SEEDS). The University of British Columbia (UBC) Social, Ecological, and Economic Development Studies, SEEDS, brings together students, faculty, and staff to address sustainability issues on the UBC campus. Staff members request research pertinent to their fields, students earn academic credit for their work, and instructors become involved in the community. To date the program has involved over 1500 students in projects that range from monitoring plant health to soil analyses, from ecological foot-printing to innovative stormwater solutions that use compost as a sorbent. This hands-on interactive workshop will outline the leadership and practical opportunities such a program can offer to undergraduates and graduate students and a campus as a whole. It will give participants the opportunity to determine how they might integrate such a program at their own campuses and provide expertise and comments from program participants, staff, faculty and students, about how this visionary program has inspired, led by example, and pioneered undergraduate and graduate research opportunities at UBC.
