Ecobiodiversity of Cyanophyceae from Amaravati Dam of Dhule District of Maharashtra (India).

The ecological & biodiversitical studies of Cyanophyceae of lentic hydrosphere of Amaravati Dam of Dhule District of Maharashtra state of India was selected as study areas. As in Maharashtra state of India, very few workers have paid attention on ecobiodiversity of algae with relation to water pollution. Amaravati dam which is located near the village Malpur, Taluka Shindkheda of Dhule District of Maharashtra was constructed near Amaravati river. The main sources of Amaravati das are Amaravati river, Nai river and Ghushrinalla, The Amaravati dam is earthen type and it is situated 740 , 30' S longitude and 200 , 30' N latitude. Three Stations of dam were selected fo the collection of water and algal samples. The Physico-chemical analysis of water samples of Amaravati dam was carried out by standards methods of APHA (1975). The periodicity of Cyanophyceae algae was observed throughout the one year (2006-07). The Planktonic, epiphytic and benthic algae of Amaravati dam were collected for 3 stations. The density of population of Cyanophyceace for 3 stations was studied for one year (2006-07). In summer and winter seasons, the percentage population of Cyanophyceace was more at all 3 stations of dam. The biotope of the Cyanophyceace was comprised 35 taxa belonging to 15 genera. The class Cyanophyceace was mainly represented by the species of Microcystics, Chroococcus, Gloeocapsa, Aphanocapsa, Synechcoccus, Merismopedia, Sprirulina, Oscillatoria, Phormidium, Lyngbya, Nostoc, Anabaena, Plectonema, Homeothrix and Calothrix. In present study the species of Lyngbya, Phormidium, Oscillatoria, Aanbena were observed maximum in winter and summer seasons. The dominant genus Oscillatora of blue green algae was observed with having 8 taxa. The relationship between different physico-chemical parameters and biodiversity of Cyanophyceace were observed.
